Congratulations to Sam Muir. She has just won a junior British title under low kick rules.

Her opponent Lauren, of GBH Kickboxing is much improved and pushed Sam all the way, making this a very entertaining match.

Well done to both girls and congratulations to Sam.

Totaly agree with you both (Paul and Big Dave) the lads at spartan always make people feel welcome and do there best to help you out.

Paul spot on mate I for one thought the samething when I started that it would be full of that sort big meat heads tatoos but a year and a half im still there still learning and helping out when ever I can

Thanks Big Dave

Glad you enjoyed it and of course, you are right, all the lads are really helpful and do their best to make everyone feel welcome.

I think a lot of people are put off martial arts training because they expect martial arts gyms to be full of "meat-heads" with ego issues. For the most part, it's an inaccurate perception and certainly not true of Spartan so I thank you for your testimony.

Cheers

To all music fans

One of our kickboxers, Ben is the lead singer of a great band called Rayne. They do gigs all over the place and are on at Paddywacks on 24/09/2008. It's a Wednesday night so none of my MMA students can go (you'd better all be in the gym!) ha ha.

They're also on at Castletown Club on Friday 31/10/2008. This doubles up as a Halloween party too, so lets make a night of it.

If you've never seen Rayne play before, you're going to be really impressed.

Howdy everyone

Adult kickboxing grading on tomorrow (Sunday 14/09/2008) starting at 11am

Just had a junior's grading with 19 students and it went really well. We haven't totted up the scores yet but Im confident that all of them passed.

Craig Carter will be fighting for an amateur Northern Area title in Hull on the 21/09/2008. If anyone wants tickets for that please come and see me this week.

Glen

So Robbie's been giving you some pearls of wisdom, eh? We'll see!!! I reckon this old dog might still be able to pull a cheeky little sweep out of the bag, ha ha!

What would i have to wear for my first time at kickboxing? Would tracksuit type shorts and a t-shirt be OK, or would i have to wear your gear? Might sound daft, but i'll appreciate a reply.

hi dave, the 1st clas u attend is free mate, then you can opt for a membership and buy tokens in bulk (not sure of the price on that one, will have to get back to you on it.) or it is five pounds a class for non members, then two pounds for open training o a sturday. with regards to kit, the spartan has everything you need to start so i wouldnt worry about it. just get urself down mate.
